Green Fast Food Packaging Company Wins Award in Chicago for Innovation

Innovative Packaging is awarded every year to a company with the best functional design and improvement from what the packaging industry currently has. On October 13, 2010, GreenDustries Packaging was awarded the Performance Innovation Package Award by the Foodservice Packaging Institute at the 2010 FPI meeting in Chicago. The award was given for GreenDustrie’s PleatPak™ for it’s performance in 2010.

The category of Perfomance Innovation emphasizes and acknowledges foodservice packaging that has been physically designed in a way that’s resulted in a major performance improvement. FPI members and affiliates represent the majority of the large food packaging manufacturers and food companies in America.

GreenDustries PleatPak™ won the Performance Innovation Award, which emphasizes and acknowledges foodservice packaging that has been physically designed in a way that has resulted in a major performance improvement for the packaging industry.

The judges of this award were impressed with the PleatPak’s™’ intelligent design and multiple benefits for consumers and to the food packaging industry. As its name indicates, its pleated design holds all the food together so consumers eat their food directly from the package itself with minimal mess, unlike traditional packaging that requires work from the consumer.

This recognition by the foodservice industry affirms that the PleatPak fulfills a need within the industry, whereby the PleatPak design and consumer attributes represents a major performance improvement over all other foodservice packaging in its category.

The judges for the awards were Jane Chase, Senior Director, Packaging Innovation and Research and Development at Schwann Food Company; and, Dr. Clair Sand, professor of packaging at the University of Wisconsin, Stout, and the Michigan State University School of Packaging.

GreenDustries was present at the meeting to accept the award and is looking forward to seeing consumers have the opportunity to use their innovative packaging across America to minimize mess.

  1. Many of us don’t really think about it, but plastics help us save a whole lot of material when it comes to packaging.
